Based in South Yorkshire, A Different Gear is a Bike shop with a difference – Buy new or recycled, hire, service, repair or enrol on a bike maintenance class, A Different Gear is a Heeley Development Trust (HDT) community business where the income generated is invested back into the local community.
Operating as Recycled Bikes, Heeley Development Trust asked MM Design to help develop a brand that would:
- Communicate the various elements of their commercial, community and educational offer
- Balance an accessible community service with the necessary level of commerciality.
- Work within Heeley Development Trust’s growing list of successful arts, business, community and educational projects.
- Create a thriving space with the Thirlwell Road buildings and outdoor courtyard.
A Different Gear was chosen as the brand name by Heeley Development Trust and the brand identity and its application across digital and print was developed by MM Design to create a vibrant community for 21st century bikers who are, increasingly, aligning themselves into tribes. Recognising that a choice of bike is an extension of a bikers personality, and a direct reflection of their beliefs and aspirations for the environment wider society, politics, music and fashion, MM Design ensured that A Different Gear projected an identity with widespread and diverse appeal.
